I will assess the success of the lesson/unit with a rubric for the final product. (See student performance page)

Students will have the opportunity to reflect on their own work and evaluate the work of their peers. (See student performance page)

I will have an informal, but documented, discussion with each of the collaborative teachers. We will be sure to hit on the following topics:
  • What went really well?
  • What went poorly?
  • What unexpected challenges did we face?
  • How could we plan better for such challenges?
  • What unexpected insights did we gain?
  • Did the students move from novice to expert? Or did they at least make positive movement in proficiency?
  • What do we want to keep the same for next time?
  • What do we want to change?

By documenting what has occurred in this learning experience, through grades, student reviews and the teacher/media specialist review, areas of success can be noted and tracked. This documentation can also serve as a reminder of the needed changes the next time the unit is taught. This will ensure that we don’t continue to do things that don’t work or don’t work well. The goal is best practice, so as we teach we need to work to improve upon anything that isn’t perfect. Documentation of the good and documentation of how the not-so-good can be improved of each learning experience can help to build an evidence-based program.
